Fireworks - Ordinance 18-01

Chapter 13 Article 3 Section 9 – Use of fireworks within the city limits.

  1. It is unlawful to ignite and/or explode fireworks within 300 feet of a church, public school, or where fireworks are stored or sold.
  2. Fireworks that are shot, burned, ignited, and generated trash must be picked up and properly disposed of.
  3. Fireworks shooter(s) are responsible for any personal injury or property damaged or destroyed.
  4. Only Class B fireworks can be used.
  5. In the event that a “Red Flag” alert is issued, a burn ban is put in place.  All igniting/firing of fireworks is to be terminated.
  6. No guns are to be fired into the air nor any devised contraption that uses gun powder.

Chapter 13 Article 3 Section 10 – Time and Dates for legal uses of fireworks.

  1. January – Class B fireworks ONLY between the hours of 11:30 p.m. on December 31st and 12:30 a.m. on January 1st.
  2. Beginning the third (3rd) week in June through the second (2nd) week in July with the daily hours beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday.  On Friday and Saturdays the times will be 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. (midnight).
  3. Special event permits may be allowed with the council’s approval.
